Since I'm in full 70's/80's female singer/songwriter mode, let's talk about Rickie now. Here are my top three:1) Flying Cowboys—This is the album that won me over to her.

I saw the video for 'Satellites' on VH1 back when this album had just come out, and I was entranced. I took a gamble and bought the CD shortly afterwards. Needless to say, I didn't regret my decision! I love so many songs on this disc it's not funny: 'The Horses,' Satellites,' 'Ghost Train' (one of the most haunting songs I've ever heard), the title track, 'Away From the Skies,'. Even after hearing her entire catalog, I still rank this one as the best of the best.2) Rickie Lee Jones—One of the best debut albums ever. Each song is an absolute gem.3) The Evening of My Best Day—I went back and forth between this one and Pirates, but TEOMBD ultimately won out.
It just glides along like an evening breeze and has a Vince Guaraldi flavor to it. I saw her perform many songs from this album when she came through Nashville a few years ago. Well, I don't own 'em all, and only ever had the first album on a now lost cassette, but I'll go.1. Button data setup fifa 13 pc download.
Pirates (up there with 'Court and Spark' and 'Eli and the Thirteenth Confession' as one of the classic female singer-songwriter albums, IMO)2. The Magazine (I know this isn't so well thought of, but I see it as kind of a companion piece to 'Pirates')3. Girl at Her Volcano (does this count? Only issued as 10' vinyl, and on CD these days as a Japanese import, but great versions of 'Walk Away Renee' and 'Lush Life').
I'm tempted to go along with many of you and say the self-titled debut, Pirates, and Flying Cowboys, but I think I'll go out on a limb and replace the debut with - gasp - Ghostyhead. I've loved that cd ever since I first heard it, even though it was a serious shock to me initially ( this is a RLJ album?!). Still, Ghostyhead has some great songs under those trippy beats and, unless you just can't tolerate any electronic-oriented music, the production is actually very interesting. If you haven't already done so, listen to that album through headphones and you'll be amazed at how much is going on. If you haven't already done so, listen to that album through headphones and you'll be amazed at how much is going on. My favorite would have to be a toss-up between Pirates and Flying Cowboys. 'Satellites' is probably my favorite RLJ tune, and a lot of other stuff from that album (such as 'Atlas' Marker') is amazing, but any album that includes 'Living It Up', 'We Belong Together', and 'Traces Of The Western Slopes' ain't too shabby, either. After those, I'd probably go with The Evening Of My Best Day as my third choice.
The title cut, 'Sailor Song', and 'Second Chance' are among my favorite RLJ songs.FYI, she's got two new songs coming out next week on the Friends With Money soundtrack. And when I see the sign that points one wayThe lot we used to pass by every dayJust walk away ReneeYou won't see me follow you back homeThe empty sidewalks on my block are not the sameYou're not to blameFrom deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cryFrom deep inside the pain that I chose to hideJust walk away ReneeYou won't see me follow you back homeNow as the rain beats down upon my weary eyesFor me it criesJust walk away ReneeYou won't see me follow you back home.Unfortunately, we are not licensed to display the full lyrics for this song at the moment due to a DMCA takedown request.
